le château de Ripaille |
||
|
The “RIPAILLE CHATEAU” was built in 1434 by Amédée VIII, first Duke of Savoy. In the past, this château had seven towers but only remain four nowadays. The duke and six of his councellors lived in it creating the order of Knights of Saint Maurice of which he was the prior. It is a very original building with aligned towers along the front façade, probably being a unique type of partly communal and partly manorial housing conditions. It was designated as the “Carthusian for the Great Lords”. |
